Stay Alert: Email & Text Message Scams to Watch Out For
In addition to scam phone calls, we’re seeing a rise in email and text message scams designed to trick people into clicking dangerous links or sharing personal information.
Here are a few common scams to be aware of:
- Fake DocuSign Emails
These emails may claim you need to review or sign a document, but the links lead to fake login pages meant to steal your information. - Unpaid Toll Notifications
You might receive a text claiming you owe money for an unpaid toll. These messages often look urgent and include a link to “pay now.” Don’t click it. - USPS / Package Delivery Scams
Scammers may send emails or texts pretending to be from USPS, UPS, or FedEx about a missed or undelivered package. These usually include suspicious links.
How to spot and protect yourself:
- Do NOT click on links in unexpected emails or texts.
- Scam texts and emails often come from strange or incomplete email addresses or phone numbers. If it looks off, it probably is.
- Mark suspicious messages as “junk” or “spam” to help block future attempts.
- Go directly to the official website or app instead of using a link someone sends you.
- Never enter personal or login information through a link you weren’t expecting.
Stay safe and aware.
